Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) consultant team have visited Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP) on 10^th September 2024.

The FAO delegation included Dr. Aziz R. Arya, Programme and Policy Officer, Regional South –South Cooperation Officer and Dr. Rasheed Sulaiman, Director of the Agri-Education and Skills for Agriculture (AESA). During their visit, they engaged in constructive discussions with SLCARP officials, focusing on enhancing food security, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and advancing research and innovation in the National Agricultural Research System (NARS).  They also highlighted the importance of aligning national agricultural policies with international best practices to achieve sustainable development. Former Chairman, Dr. J.D.H.W.Wijewardhana, Deputy Director of Research Management, Dr. Chandra Padmini, Senior Scientists, Ms. Geethani Smarasigha and Dr. Thikshani Somarathna, Research Officers,  Ms. Thilini Dinushika and Ms. Nawodanie Silva,  participated in this discussion.
