The National Awards for Excellence in Agricultural Research, organized by the Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP) was successfully held on 16^th December 2024 at the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA), Colombo 07 with the patronage and stemmed presence Mr. K. D. Lalkantha, Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation, & Mr. M.P.N.M. Wickramasinghe Secrearaty, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation also participated this event. This prestigious event celebrated the outstanding contributions of Sri Lanka's top agricultural scientists and innovators, highlighting their dedication and significant achievements in advancing the nation's agricultural landscape.

The Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP) is mandated to recognize excellence in agricultural research. In 2021, SLCARP Awards for Excellence in Agricultural Research similarly as it has previously done to encourage and motivate agricultural scientists in the NARS. Through this process, SLCARP called application from Research officers/Scientists who have conducted their research projects during 2018-2019 in tree sectors: non-plantation, plantation, and fisheries & livestock aquatic resources.

Out of 44 applications received, 14 were selected by an independent and competent panel of highly qualified professionals from universities, private sector and government institutions. Selection procedure included evaluation of research findings, publications, and impact of research on the economic development of the country.

SLCARP extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, stakeholders, and awardees for making this event a remarkable success. Together, we celebrate the spirit of innovation and excellence that propels Sri Lanka toward a sustainable agricultural future.
