𝐎𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐏 𝐃𝐎𝐀 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐔𝐒 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬

Onsite project monitoring of NARP DOA and NUS projects of Plant Virus Indexing Centre, Homagama and Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo

The Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP) conducted an onsite monitoring program at the Plant Virus Indexing Centre, Homagama and Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo, on 27th May 2026. This visit was part of the annual onsite research project monitoring programme carried out across National Agricultural Research System (NARS) institutes.

During the visit, the monitoring team evaluated the progress of three (03) ongoing research projects covering the areas of Plant pathology & Plant protection and IoT in Agriculture. The projects monitored are listed below:

  1. Detection and management of viruses and viroids associated with citrus cultivation in Sri Lanka

  1. Detection and management of viruses associated with passion fruit cultivation in Sri Lanka and characterization of possible new viruses

PI - Dr.  E.A.E.S.S. Jayasekara

  1. Implementation of IoT (Internet of Things) Based Smart Protected Agriculture (PA) Systems by for Polytunnels and Urban Houses
